Hey Guys!

Kevin Gianni here with your 50 Second Fitness Quick Fix. Sorry to have missed last week, but Annmarie and I got engaged and we took a trip to Nicaragua to celebrate! So now we're back... we're happy... and I'm ready to give you another great insight on the economics of your food!

At the place we were staying at, I picked up a book called "Plan B: Rescuing a Planet Under Stress and a Civilization in Trouble" by Lester Brown. The book is an outline of what we can do to save the planet. Now what does that have to do with your health and fitness?

A lot. In his research he analyzed the diets of the richest billion people and the poorest billion people. The information he found was not so shocking, but very telling of where we stand in terms of nutrition and what we're eating tonight for dinner.

The top billion people suffer from disease and medical conditions related to the ingestion of fats and animal proteins. Since meat is more expensive, this makes up a good portion this group's diet. The lower billion can't afford the meat so they eat about 70% grain. Do you think they're healthy? Nope. They suffer from malnutrition because the grains don't have enough nutrients to sustain good health.

So who's the healthiest? People in the middle... the people who eat small amounts of grain, large amounts fresh/raw vegetables and little meat. This might sound like the Mediterranean diet or the Okinawa diet... and it does, because it is!

So I've said this before and I want to emphasize it again... you have to question what you're eating and why! Is the reason we're eating so many grains and meat products because they're good for us, or is it because they are economically viable and prosperous in our food economies?! I'll let you chew on that until next week!

As for the book, I've included a link below for you to pick it up... it should be required reading for all!

Before I go I want to tell you about a friend of mine who is doing some really cool stuff in the field of self-fulfillment.
