Walking Meditation and Motivation Exercise

Here's a great mind clearing and motivation exercise that I do every time I'm ready to embark on something new (in this case it may be fitness or something completely different)! Today, take a walk after dinner or during your lunch break for 15-30 minutes just to breathe in the air and listen to the sounds around you,--crickets, cars passing by, the people on the sidewalks. It doesn't matter if you live in a city or in the woods, the energy and sounds around you are the sounds of life, of motion and you will use them to help you succeed. Take this walk alone so you don't get caught up in conversation. This is your time alone, your time to enjoy the peace that walking can bring. When you've taken in your surroundings, I want you to think about all the successful things you've done and how you accomplished them and how it took such a strong commitment from you. I want you to congratulate yourself for doing all those wonderful things in your life so far and I want you to think about how remarkable it is going to feel when you complete your fitness and health goals and know that you one more success under your belt--the success of taking control of your health and fitness so you can do the things that you really want to do in your life! When you get back to your house or apartment, take note of how you are feeling physically--in your arms, your legs, your heart--and mentally. I want you to print out this page and record these feelings like a journal entry. Be as honest and as detailed as you can so you will get the most out of this motivation exercise!
