Upper Body Exercises: Modified Pushup

modified push upspacermodified push up

The Modified Pushup is a universal exercise for anyone who cannot do a regular pushup.  We've given you the conventional form here and have included a few more so you can add some variety into your workout.  You can do all the other pushups in this similar modified form.  The pushup works your chest, arms and shoulders.

  1. Place your hands on the floor, shoulder width apart.
  2. Put your knees on the ground and cross your legs behind you.
  3. Inhale as you lower your upper body (Being sure you don't dip your hips) until your chest can touch the floor.
  4. Exhale as you push yourself back.
  5. Repeat.
